Kenmore Concert on the Green KMA 2014

The Stranges - Concert On The Green - Kenmore N.Y.

As promised here are the pictures from the 2014 Kenmore Merchants Association "Concert On The Green".

I heard the band start warming up and took a quick run up to the corner to snap a picture. As soon as I heard the band doing the sound check I could tell these guys were going to be good.

The concert was a lot of fun. There was a beer and wine tent, food served by Kenmore's favorite sub shop Mike's Subs, and The Strangers really rocked. As the crowd gathered on the green in front of the Kenmore Municipal Building the band rocked the crowd with hits from the 60's 70's and 80's. Fun was had by all, and the band was really tight and did great interpretations of the songs they played. I usually don't like cover bands but these guys were fantastic, and they really did justice to every song they played. Kudos to The Strangers !
The Strangers rock Kenmore N.Y. for the Concert on the Green !
The band drew a really nice crowd. It was so neat seeing family and friends enjoying live music on the steps of the village hall. Kenmore N.Y. rocks and they should do more events like this. Jazz on the steps would be a lot of fun. Hint, hint ...
As the sun set The Strangers kept the village rocking.

The concert lasted from 7 to 10 in the evening. As the sun set The Strangers rocked the crowd at dusk. If you missed the event this year , you need to mark this on your calendar for next year ! Till then, rock on Kenmore!

What's Up Kenmore N.Y. ?

We really need to blog more. I think I'm going to start a "What's Up Kenmore N.Y." post each month. I'll just highlight all the fun stuff that's happening around town! July was pretty busy in Kenmore, we had Discover Delaware, and that was a lot of fun, and of course Kenmore Days, and then the Dog Days of Kenmore. I missed Kenmore Days, and Dog Days of Kenmore this year :(

What better way to end such a busy, fun month in July then with a concert, and a Giant Garage Sale. Tonight is the annual Kenmore Merchants Associations "Concert on the Green" featuring the music of "The Strangers". The concert is held in the Village Square at the Corner where Delaware Rd. Delaware Ave. and Lincoln Blvd. all meet. The concert starts at 7:00 this evening, it's a family event, but there will be a beer tent, and food served from Kenmore's favorite sub shop, Mike's Subs !

Then on Saturday, the Kenmore Village Improvement Society is holding the Giant Kenmore Garage Sale.  Maps will be available at the Village Square, and it runs from 9 to 3 in the afternoon. Let's hope for good weather ! If you love bargain hunting and searching for antiques and collectables, nothing beats a garage sale. Here's a copy of the first page of the map with everyone who is participating.

Click image to enlarge. Participants in the Giant Kenmore Garage Sale. As far as I know maps will be available in the Village Square during the event.

Now for a little shameless self promotion! We will be open tonight till 7:00 in honor of the concert on the green. I'll try and post some pix of the event next week. Tomorrow, Saturday July 26th we will be open from 9:00 till 3:00 and having a 25% to 50% off sale storewide.  Ladies here's a little hint, all purses and summer hats will be 50% off. So if you've had your eye on a purse, tomorrow is the day to score!

That's "What's Up In Kenmore N.Y." this week. Hope you have a wonderful weekend and if you're in the neighborhood, stop in for a cup of coffee and say hi !

Just thought I'd add a little color to the post.

Discover Delaware Kenmore N.Y.

The loveley Village of Kenmore hosted the Discover Delaware event last weekend and a lot of fun was had by all.  Discover Delaware is the annual side walk sale in Kenmore N.Y. All the local merchants show off their goods and services, and many vendors show up from all over Western New York to introduce people to their company.

Tents, cars and shoppers lined Delaware Ave. in Kenmore N.Y. Saturday for the annual  Discover Delaware event.
The street was lined with tents, balloons, cars, and shoppers. The day also kicks off the farmers market where you can pick up all kinds of fresh fruits, vegetables and live plants each Saturday on the front lawn of the Municipal building.

Fresh fruit, flowers, and produced filled the green in front of the Municipal Building where Delaware Rd. and Delaware Ave. meet.
Just like last year, the day started out with a little rain. Not enough to ruin anything but just enough to scare the vendors, especially those who were brave enough to show up without tents. About a half an hour before the event, the sky cleared, the sun came out, and smiles replaced the pensive looks of all the vendors.

Our booth at Discover Delaware. We set up next to our neighbor The Wedding Agent. I ended up adding a few more things after I took this picture. The purses were hung from the back of the tent, and we displayed spring and summer scarves hanging from the side. They looked really cute blowing in the wind and added some attention to our booth.

Once the event started everyone seemed to have a really good time. Smiling shoppers filled Delaware going from tent to tent to see what each business had to offer. Some business's held demonstrations showing off what they have to offer, others held tent sales and there were some huge bargains to be found. We offered some of our sterling silver rings at 50% off and purses were 25% off.

The Wedding Agent set up a really nice display, showcasing her wedding planning skills. Her shop is really beautiful inside as well. If you're ever looking for our shop, we are directly behind "The
Wedding Agent" on Lincoln Blvd.
Mia, our neighbor and owner of The Wedding Agent, set up a beautiful display, showcasing her decorative skills in wedding planning. Her shop is really beautiful on the inside as well. Her display got so many compliments. If you've never been to our shop before, we are the store behind The Wedding Agent on Lincoln Blvd. If you see The Wedding Agent, just turn on Lincoln Blvd. and were the first shop on the side entrance.

These dudes started jamming in the Piano in Public pavilion. I don't think this was planned and these guys were really great. This is what I like about the Piano in Public project.

There was a dj or radio station in front of Mike's Subs playing country music. A make shift band formed in the piano in public pavilion and they jammed for a couple hours. That was really a pleasant surprise. If you don't know about Pianos In Public click here to find out more. Kenmore has one in the gazebo where Delaware Ave, and Delaware Rd. meet, and it really is good fun ! It's so nice to step out of our shop and hear piano playing filling the air. It really makes the village seem to come alive.
This Piano is out all summer long in the Gazebo where Delaware Rd. and Delaware Ave meet.

If you've never attended Discover Delaware, you really want to pencil this in on your calender for next year. It's a lot of fun.

Time to get ready for Kenmore Days !

Kenmore NY Memorial Day Parade Pix

Helene with messy wind blown hair handing out flyers.
Memorial Day weekend was a blast. As the parade marches right by our shop we decided to open up for a few hours, enjoy the parade, meet some of the neighbors, and hand out a few flyers to promote our business.

If you have never been to the Kenmore N.Y. memorial day parade you should really check it out. It's a lot of fun, with all kinds of cars, bands, motorcycles, fire companies, and locals hero's marching down the street. It's one of those events, that as a local you look forward to every year.

Here's some of the highlights of the parade this year.
Military trucks, bands, antique fire engines, motorcycles and vendors with really cool hair were all featured in the parade this year.

This drummer didn't miss a beat, and the bag pipe players were phenomenal. I love hearing the sounds of music filling the air each memorial day in remembrance of our lost and fallen soldiers.

Here's some of Ken-Ton's finest marching with flag in hand !
The Elks lodge had a fun float with this patriotic guy waving to the fans.

Just in , Candles By Cherie

These just arrived in the Kenmore N.Y. shop today. These are Candles by Cherie and they are adorable. These lovely wine glasses are filled with scented candle wax, and made by hand right here in the Ken Ton area. This is a terrific product that we are proud to carry from a western New York craftsman and help support the local businesses in our own community.

Each hand poured candle, is scented with flavors like vanilla citrus, merlot, pink sugar, and beach daisies. Each long stemmed glass is decorated in an art deco fashion with various designs like, fashion accessories, lips and lipsticks, zebra prints and more. Even the packaging on these lovely candles is adorable.

These are so cute, and even the packaging is adorable. Stop in the store and check out the lovely collection of Candles by Cherie !

Discover Delaware Kenmore N.Y.

I finally got a chance to post the Discover Delaware pictures. What a fun event. We woke up in the morning and discovered it was raining. I told Helene we needed to get a tent twice and both times she said we didn't need one. Morning of the event, it's raining, and I'm out looking for a tent at 7:30 in the morning without a first cup of coffee. Talk about waking up on the wrong side of the bed. I got a tent at Home Depot, came back and set it up, and guess what ? IT STOPPED RAINING !

After that fiasco the event went off without a hitch and everyone had a blast. The sun soon peaked out from behind the clouds, the farmers market was open across the street, music filled the air from various entertainers and Delaware was a alive with all kinds of people walking around enjoying good food, buying produce at the farmer's market, and checking out the various goods and services offered by their community retailers.  The event really was a lot of fun. In between customers I would run out in the street and snap a few pictures.

Here's the tent we purchased and there's Helene setting up with her friend.
The lovely ladies from MOD Dance. These are our neighbours from the dance studio next store. I think they did a performance down the street that I wanted to get pictures of but we got busy in the shop and I couldn't run down there.
Some of the local entertainment. These guys were really good. They did a harmonizing, do wop kinda thing, and everyone really seemed to enjoy it. I think I need to start getting names for the blog. I also heard a really good guitar player while I was in the shop but didn't have a chance to run out and get a picture.
One of the vendors from the farmers market representing Prudom Farms. At least that's what the sign said on her stand. The produce looked soooo good and fresh. I meant to get back there and buy a few things but we got pretty busy in the shop. I assure you I'll be buying some of this ladies produce this weekend. If you're like me and love locally grown produce you really want to check out the Kenmore Farmers Market every Saturday morning.
These cherries looked so good I had to take a picture, I should of used a different lens on the camera, but don't they look yummy.
Mr. Cool was selling ice cream right across the shop.
A street shot of the vendors and people shopping the Discover Delaware event.
Well, those are a few of the better pictures I took. When the event was over we ordered a pizza from Mike's Subs, they just started selling Pizza, and I have to say, like all their food the Pizza is FANTASTIC ! The Pizza was the perfect ending to a perfect afternoon.

The Farmers Market runs every Saturday morning on the municipal building lawn where Delaware Rd. and Delaware Ave. meet. If you live nearby you really want to check it out ,the produce is fresh and delicious, and it's a great way to spend Saturday morning not to mention you can stop by our shop and say hi !
